Silk is a natural fiber, which can be woven into textiles. The purest variety of silk is obtained from cocoons. Absorbency of silk, makes it easy to be worn in warm weather and while working out. Moreover, its low conductivity keeps warm air close to the skin, during cold weather. Silk is extensively used in clothing such as shirts, ties, blouses, formal dresses, high fashion clothing etc. Fabrics such as chiffon, taffeta, shantung etc. are made from silk fibre.
